Passport to Amsterdam

May 21, 2012

My entire life I have wanted to go to the Country that is my namesake (to an extent... I wasn't named after it), and in my twentieth year of life I finally had the opportunity! Amsterdam was an incredibly different place than most of the cities I have ever travelled to. There were canals everywhere, a very difficult urban network to navigate, and a general relaxed nature (red light district, CoffeeShops...) that you cannot find anywhere else in the world. I didn't really experience any of these unique cultural novelties, but seeing the city and witnessing the difference in culture was a treat. The bakeries were unbelievably delicious as well, and the markets were a joy.

Upon arrival at one of the many canals

They love me! The Netherlands' soccer team is their pride and joy. I was tempted to buy all of it to decorate my room with.

This pretty much captures the general sentiment in Amsterdam. Our cultures are so different!

At the Heineken Brewery Tour! I am helping to turn the barley and water mixture that makes up the first stage of beer making!
